What is crust leather, and how is it different from full-grain?

Crust leather is vegetable-tanned hide that is drum-dyed all the way through the hide, not surface-finished. Full-grain refers to the unsanded top layer of any hide. Edlaro uses drum-dyed crust leather so colour and patina come from inside the leather.

Do I need to add an insole to Edlaro shoes?

No. The 5-layer sole stack — cork compression layer, latex cushion, EVA base, suede top, flexible outsole — provides arch support, shock absorption and natural forefoot flex out of the box.

Why do most formal shoes hurt my feet by mid-afternoon?

Three construction failures: rigid outer soles that transfer impact, flat 2–3 mm insoles with no arch contour, and stiff counters that block forefoot flex at toe-off. Together they fatigue the plantar fascia and Achilles.

How long do Edlaro shoes last?

With cedar trees, rotation between pairs, and a polish every 4–6 wears, an Edlaro pair is built to last a decade. We re-sole worn pairs at cost when the outsole eventually goes.

How should I clean and care for crust leather?

Brush after every wear with a horsehair brush. Insert cedar trees within an hour. Apply a neutral cream conditioner every 4–6 wears and a matching wax polish monthly. Avoid heat and direct sun.

Can formal shoes be comfortable for standing all day?

Yes, when the shoe is built with a flexible outsole, a cork or EVA midsole, a contoured insole and a breathable upper. Edlaro is designed precisely against this brief — formal silhouette, athletic-shoe feel.

Is Edlaro a sustainable brand?
